About the Provider

His own experience with doctors during childhood impressed James K. Fortman II, MD, with how a physician can make a difference in people's lives. His desire to help people, plus his interest in science and technology, led him to a career in medicine.

Dr. Fortman is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine. He previously served as an assistant professor in pain medicine. Dr. Fortman takes a team approach with his patients, laying out the treatment options and advantages before deciding on a plan, always focused on a positive outcome for the patient. He incorporates a multi-modal approach to pain management utilizing advanced interventional pain procedures along with medication management. He encourages everyone to work toward healthy lifestyle changes.

Dr. Fortman has been on Cincinnati Magazine's Top Doctor list for the past six years and received the 2016 Rising Star Medical Award from Venue magazine. He leads a monthly teleconference program on the best practices in pain management for primary care physicians and talks to residency programs and local arthritis patient groups.

Born and raised in the Cincinnati area, he enjoys spending time with his family, rooting for the Bengals, playing tennis and volunteering at his local church where he helps coach youth sports.
